MEN CREATING CHANGE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM

Program Overview

EPICS offers a non-violent men’s group for men who batter. Using the Duluth model approach, our goal is to improve the safety of women and children and hold the men accountable for the violence they commit. We believe that an inter-agency approach that brings justice and human services interventions together around the primary goal of protecting victims from ongoing abuse shifts the responsibility of stopping men’s use of violence in their intimate relationships from the shoulders of the women being beaten onto community institutions of social control. EPICS offers men’s non-violence groups and provides women victim groups in St. Louis County and St. Louis City.

  • Program includes 28 weeks of direct contact hours, which includes one individual session for intake/orientation and one individual session for discharge/dismissal.
  • Participants will be able to have additional one-on-one sessions to address unrelated issues with a licensed professional for an additional fee that will be based on a sliding fee scale.
  • The 90 minute session utilizes group discussion, role-plays, videos, vignettes, group exercises, dialogue, and assignments.
  • Groups will be offered at two locations (See left panel on this page).
  • Fees must be paid at the time of appointment or payments can be made online through paypal prior to appointment.
  • Men transferring from another BIP program must schedule an appointment for an intake prior to starting group (fees will apply- assessment fee may be reduced and will be determined by clinical director).
  •  Group Fee may remain at the same rate when transferring from another BIP program (will be determined by clinical director based on individual circumstances).
  • Clinical Director will determine if carry over credits will be used in the case of a transfer (credits don’t automatically carry over).
  • At the time of intake men will be required to bring victim impact statement, police report or probable cause statement (either of these documents will be acceptable and can be obtained from attorney or police department).
  • A $25 rescheduling fee will be charged if men fail to bring the required paperwork to their initial intake appointment (required paperwork is required to complete assessment).
  • Men will be required to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment to complete paperwork.
  • Upon completion of assessment/orientation men will be assigned to a group and be allowed to start group immediately.
  • Probation and Parole will be notified of men’s status.
  • Fees will be applied for missed or cancelled appointments.
